AFNS Passing Criteria:
There are two types of commissions in AFNS Admissions 2020. Their details and criteria are as follows:
- AFNS - BSc Nursing
The candidate needs to have:
- Matric with Science - 60% Marks Minimum
- FSc (Pre-medical) - 50% Marks Minimum
The age of the candidate should be around 17-25 years. She could be a unmarried, widow, separated, and divorcee without encumbrances.
If the candidates have yet to clear their Intermediate Part 2, they may apply with Hope certificate signed by the Principal of concerned institution for attaining 50% marks. On the declaration of Part-II result, candidates should submit the FSc marks sheet immediately.
- Trained Nurse as Lieutenant
The second kind of candidate is a trained nurse and the criterion is as follows:
- Nursing Diploma and Midwifery.
- BSc Generic Nursing.
- Post (RN) BSc Nursing
The age of the candidate should be 18-28 years. She can either be married or unmarried.
A trained nurse should be registered with Pakistan Nursing Council (PNC). Preference will be given to qualified post basic specialized courses i.e. ICU, OT, and CCU etc. from a hospital/institute recognized by PNC.
Training of an AFNS Nurse
The training period differs with the post of the AFNS Nurse you applied for.
- For BSc Nursing, there is a 4 year training period AFPGMI Rawalpindi, CMH Lahore, CMH Kharian, CMH Multan, CMH Quetta, and PNS Shifa Karachi
- For Trained Nurses, there is a 6 weeks Basic Military Training at AFPGMI Rawalpindi and CMH Kharian.
On completion of successful training, the AFNS Nurses shall be granted Commission in the rank of Lieutenant. Finally selected candidates will be required to sign a bond to serve the Army for a minimum period of ten years for BSc Nursing before the beginning of training.
AFNS Salary
AFNS nurses do not start in officer scale (BPS-17), so they are junior to the officers of the same rank. AFNS nurses have a lower pay scale than the officers (PCO). Even if a nurse has the rank of Captain, she is not equal to BPS-17 (of regular army captain officer) and thus gets paid less than them.
