The participation of farmers has also been ensured in the plantation drive and saplings of acacia, poplar and sumbal were planted at lands in rural areas, said Director Agriculture Ch Abdul Hameed in a meeting of agriculture consultant committee here.

He said that 10,428 saplings were planted in offices of the agriculture department and 117,595 saplings were planted at agriculture lands in rural areas with the coordination of farmers.

The director agriculture said that sugarcane crushing was being monitored strictly and cases had been got registered against 57 persons on the complaints of less weighing of the crop.

As many as 393,904 farmers from all the four districts of the Faisalabad division have been registered with Punjab information technology board for issuance of Kisan cards and 63,986 farmers for interest free loans.

He said that over 40,000 farmers had got loans for Kharif and Rabi crops in the division while cases of others were under process.
