Agriculture Task Force Committee Meets To Review Progress

A meeting of District Agriculture Task Force for Counterfeit Fertilizers and Pesticides was held here today at Committee Room of Deputy Commissioner Office
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shozab Saeed presided over the meeting.
The meeting was attended by agriculturalists and representatives of fertilizer companies.
The meeting was told that some 36000 wheat farmers of 714 villages of Bahawalpur district were being provided training under Farmer Training Program in two phases.
Similarly, 29757 farmers of sunflower and more than 9000 farmers of rice were trained under the program. The meeting was further told that wheat was cultivated at an area of 707,000 acres during the year 2017-18 while wheat was cultivated at 709,770 acres in 2018-19 exceeding the target to 101 percent.
Sunflower was planted in 3463 acres this year as compared to 15145 acres last year.
The meeting was also told that sugarcane was cultivated at 48000 acres land this year.
The meeting was told that amount of Rs 271.8 million was given to more than 2000 farmers at easy installments under Electronic Credit Scheme. The meeting also reviewed the performance of Agriculture Task Force.
The meeting was briefed that fine of Rs 381,000 were imposed on violators during this year while fines of Rs 559,000 were imposed last year.
