AJK Begins Spring Tree Plantation Drive

The Spring tree plantation campaign has been launched in Azad Jammu & Kashmir

MIRPUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Feb, 2018 ) :The Spring tree plantation campaign has been launched in Azad Jammu & Kashmir. A senior official of the AJK Forest Department told APP here on Friday said at least eight million saplings are targeted to be planted on an area of 18,000 acres of land throughout the liberated territory of AJK during the campaign.

He urged the people across AJK to cooperate for making the tree plantation drive complete success. The AJK Forest Department has made adequate arrangements to ensure the availability of free saplings of all sorts on all the government nurseries and specific points.

Of these over 1.50 million saplings will be planted in Mirpur division comprising Mirpur, Kotli and Bhimbher districts. The department has also insisted on the protection of the forests through due collective and individual role by the concerned departments as well as the masses.

Plants are the major source to ensure pollution free environment, adding, they also prove to be a strong source to save the land from erosion.
