The Agriculture Mechanization Research Institute (AMRI) is working on preparation of cost effective baler machine to facilitate farmers regarding burning of crops remains.
Usually farmers burnt corp remains which created environmental issues, said Director AMRI Ghulam Siddique while talking to APP.
The director added that the AMRI was preparing a low cost machine- baler which would help farmers to attain extra financial gains instead of burning crops residues and polluting the atmosphere.
He said that harvested rice and wheat straws were usually burnt in the fields and the new machine would help farmers to bale straws which would be used as animals fodder or in paper industry. The farmers could earn handsome amount after balling straws and selling it to market.
To a question about prices of rice straw, he said that baled rice straw was sold at Rs 220 per mound. Similarly, the machine is also capable of baling animal fodder grass which could be exported.
About price of the machine, he informed that Rs 500,000 was being spent on the preparation of machine. He added that the AMRI was working on reverse engineering basis. It had imported baler machine at a cost of Rs 150,000 in the past. After copying it, the AMRI experts are busy in designing the machine which would be available at Rs 500,000 in the next few days.
He said that the AMRI had contributed nearly 150 agri-machines in the past to facilitate the farming sector.
