Continuous Monitoring Of Market Committees Under Way

Market committees under the control of the Punjab Agriculture Department are being monitored continuously, a spokesman said.

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd Aug, 2018 ) :Market committees under the control of the Punjab Agriculture Department are being monitored continuously, a spokesman said.

According to a press release issued here Friday,a spokesman for the department said that administrators (assistant commissioners) were performing their duties as per law in this regard.

He said that according to the official statistics of essential commodities, the price of new potato has decreased from Rs 37 to 27 in a week, while the price of stored potato has decreased to Rs 12 from Rs 14.

Ginger price has decreased from Rs 157 to 151, whereas the prices of tomato, garlic, garlic (China), garlic (desi), lemon (desi), white gram and other pulses remained unchanged.

As per the provincial government policy, the Punjab Agriculture Department was utilizing all its resources to ensure provision of essential commodities to people at cheaper rates.

He said that news regarding the shortage of essential commodities in markets and illegal profiteering were baseless and added that reduction of prices of different essential items was a proof that these commodities were available in the market in abudance.
