Eco-friendly environment for business strengthens entrepreneurs

The speakers at a consultative dialogue opined that Eco-friendly environment for business strengthens the bottom line of entrepreneurs here on Friday. The dialogue was organized by Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) to mull over private sector responsibility in climate action, the experts mainly from diverse fields delivered their output for possible recommendations over the issue.

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th Dec, 2018 ) :The speakers at a consultative dialogue opined that Eco-friendly environment for business strengthens the bottom line of entrepreneurs here on Friday. The dialogue was organized by Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) to mull over private sector responsibility in climate action, the experts mainly from diverse fields delivered their output for possible recommendations over the issue.

Aisha Khan, political economy researcher Hashoo Group said, private sector has to more proactively seek and build its indigenous human resource capacities to make climate actions. She said integrating climate change measures into government policies and implementation of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) is yet another target under sustainable development goal 13 (SDG-13) stating strengthening of climate change resilience.

She opined that there has been increasing trend observed in tourism and hospitality to go environment friendly.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) was necessary as alone private sector could not address the issues rather joint efforts of the government, civil society and the former would help to achieve the desired output. "The government is committed for climate change resilience as mass forestation campaign has been launched to mitigate carbon emissions whereas innovative and agriculture and industrial technology should also be introduced in the country," she added.

Former State Minister and board of Investment Chairman Naeem Zamindar said there is need to bring revolution in the sense of responsibility to meet climate change. He said the interconnected nature of global issues and human existence demands out of the box inventions and ideas to the bring mitigate the biggest issue of the century of climate change.
