LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Jan, 2019 ) :Provincial Agriculture Minister Nauman Ahmad Langrial said on Wednesday that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government never wanted farmers to come on roads for the acceptance of their demands.

Addressing the protesting farmers in front of Punjab Assembly here, he said that PTI government was not happy over the protest stance of farmers.

He said that strict action would be taken against the owner of Bahawalnagar Sugar Mills if its management would show any negligence in making timely payment of the sugarcane growers or giving them less rate of their crop against the fixed price.

The minister said, next week a high level meeting would be arranged in Islamabad as export related matter was a Federal issue. The minister said, "If you had given us time, the government could have given you good news regarding export of potato after deciding all matters in this regard with the federal government".

He said with the grace of Allah Almighty export of potato would take place at good rate.

"I would take up your complaint to the federal government that farmers were facing problem in transportation of potato to Iran and Afghanistan",he said.

The minister said that the government needed some time as problems created during last 24 to 25 years could not be settled in four or five months.

The Agriculture minister said, "Prime Minister Imran Khan and Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar want development of the country and welfare of the people." Pakistan Kissan Ittehad leader Khalid Mehmood Khokhar also spoke on the occasion.

It is pertinent to mention here that farmers who were protesting for the acceptance of their demands at Faisal Chowk (Mall Road) called off their protest after successful negotiations with the provincial government.
