Food Deptt To Procure 300,000 Tons Wheat From Local Farmers

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Food Qalandar Khan Lodhi on Thursday directed officials of food department to make sure procurement of 300,000 tons of wheat for year 2019-20 as par set policy
He directed that wheat should be purchased directly from framers. He issues these direction while chairing a committee divisional and district food controllers of food department at Peshawar Food Directorate here today. The meeting was attended by Secretary Food Muhammad Akbar Khan, Director Food Sadat Hasan, Deputy Director Shakeel Khan and other officials.
He said that it was our priority to purchase wheat from local farmers as it was more feasible and less costly as compared to purchasing wheat from other provinces.
He hinted at more transfers in the food department which was routine matter, adding those official showing good performance would be encouraged. He said the credit of improvement in food department went to entire team working with full dedication and sincerity.
He also directed to make sure availability of all food items on government rates during the Holy Month of Ramazan.
Director Food Sadaat Khan said that procurement of wheat was the important task of the department for which no negligence would be tolerated. He said that wheat would be purchased as par set guidelines.
He directed all food controllers to keep close liaison with deputy commissioner so that people could get essential commodities on fixed prices in Ramazan.
