Forest Deptt Plants 204,594 Saplings During Plantation Drive At Faisalabad

Faisalabad Forest Division has planted 204,594 saplings of various varieties so far in two districts including Toba Tek Singh and Faisalabad during current tree plantation drive.
The official sources said here on Tuesday that tree plantation was continuing in forests near Kamalia and Ghaghat in Toba Tek Singh and Chak No.648-GB Tehsil Jarranwala under 'Clean and Green Punjab' Programme.
Poplar tree is prominent among others plants at most of the area in forest department's territories, the source said.
The forest department has also supplied 301,930 saplings of various varieties to different government departments especially schools, colleges and universities for their plantation across the division.
As many as 67,750 saplings have been planted so far at private lands by the farmers as well.
The department has over 200 forest guards who have been deployed at forests for looking after the plants, the source added.
Meanwhile, Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) have also planted over 42,000 saplings under Clean and Green Punjab Programme.
The saplings are being planted in small and large parks, green belts of all main roads in the city and both sides of Rakh Branch Canal from Abdullahpur to Gattwala Chowk, said Director Horticulture Abdullah Nisar.
