LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Jan, 2019 ) :Farmers have been advised to take necessary steps keeping in view the weather conditions and to protect crops from the effects of frost.

A spokesman of the agriculture department said on Wednesday that plants should be covered with plastic sheets and slight irrigation should be carried out to save crops from adverse effects of cold weather.

Vegetables grown in tunnels could also get affected from the negative impact of cold weather so at night, the tunnel mouth should be closed so that inside temperature of the tunnel remain suitable for the growth of the vegetables, he added.

He said, "Suitable time to close tunnel mouth is 4:00 pm and it must be opened at 10:00 am."
