LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th May, 2018 ) :Punjab Agriculture department has advised the paddy growers not to cultivate paddy nursery before May 20 as a precautionary measure to protect crop from insects.
A spokesman of the department said here on Wednesday that certified varieties of paddy include KS-282, Nayyab ARI 9, ARI 6, KSK 133, KSK 434 abd Nayyab 2013 while Basmati varieties include Super basmati, Basmati 515, Basmati 385, Basmati Pak (Karnal Basmati), Kisan basmati, Chennab basmati, Nayyab basmati 2016, Noor basmati.
He said that hybrid varieties include Y-26, Pride-1, Shehan Shah-2, PHB-71 and others. Spokesman said that unsuitable varieties include Super fine, Kashmira, Malta, Hero and others, adding that farmers should not sow these varieties at all because rice produced through these varieties is not of good quality.
