MULTAN, , (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Apr, 2019 ) :Recent hailstorm affected mango orchards more than rain in South Punjab with over 20 percent loss of fruit in torrential rain hit areas.
Director Mango Research Institute (MRI), Allah Buksh, told APP on Thursday that rain damaged up to 15 per cent of mango produce in Shujabad, Dunyapur and other mango growing areas in South Punjab.
If temperature does not rise beyond 35 degree celsius immediately the chances of spectrum diseases including Powdery Mildew and Fruit Pedicel outbreak are very much there" he explained.
He stated that growers should spray recommended pesticides in case mango crop develops any of aforementioned diseases.
To a question, Director MRI said that according to meteorological department the weather conditions would improve shortly.
