Moong, Mash Pulses To Be Cultivated Over 147.6,21.9 Thousands Hectares Respectively

:Pulses including moong and mash cultivation targets were fixed at 147.6 thousand hectares and 21.9 thousand hectares respectively during current Kharif season to fulfill the domestic requirements as well as to exports.
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Apr, 2018 ) :Pulses including moong and mash cultivation targets were fixed at 147.6 thousand hectares and 21.9 thousand hectares respectively during current Kharif season to fulfill the domestic requirements as well as to exports.
The production targets of moong was fixed at 120.6 thousand tons, where as the mash output for the season was fixed at 11.3 thousand tons during the period under review, said an official in the ministry of National food Security and Research.
Talking to APP, he said that government has set a target to cultivate the chillies crop over 48,000 thousand hectares of land across the country, adding that chillies production targets were fixed at 117.9 the country in order to produce about 117.9 thousand tons during the period under review.
He said that in Punjab chillies to be cultivated over 6.2 thousand hectares to produce about 10,000 tons of the commodity, where as the average yield was set at 1612.9 kg per hectare. Meanwhile, 0.2 thousand hectares of land would put under chillies crop in the Sindh Province during current Kharif season to produce about 101 thousand tons of the commodity by achieving about 2,729.7 kg per hectares, he remarked.
The official further informed that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was assigned a task to produce about 0.4 thousand tons of chillies by sowing the crop over an area of 0.3 thousand hectares of land, where as yield out put per-hectare was fixed a 1,333.3 kg.
The green chillies crop during the current season to be cultivated over 4.5 thousand hectares of land to produce about 6.5 thousand tons of the commodity by getting about 1,444.4 kg per-hectare output, he added.
Besides, the chillies production, he said the government has set a target to produce about 166.7 thousand tons of tomatoes for tackling the domestic requirements during the kharif season, adding that the crop to be cultivated over 17.7 thousand hectares of land across the different crop growing areas of the country.
The government had introduced hybrid varieties of different minor crops including fruits, vegetables and pulses in order to encourage the small scale farmers to enhance their farm income by producing high value crops, he added.
He said that average per hectare tomatoes output was fixed at 9,418.1 kg as the crop is cultivated over a vast areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces.
