MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Feb, 2018 ) :Orchards in Multan have started experiencing sprouting early due to low fruit bearing last year and experts have advised farmers to take steps in accordance with the weather updates aired through communication sources.

In a release issued by the media liaison unit of Punjab Agriculture Department here Thursday, experts said that farmers should perform hoeing to remove weeds from area around the plants before applying fertilizers after mid February.

Weeds should be removed either by Rotovator or Weed Slasher. Application of suitable quantity of fertilizers should follow water application. Water application at the time of flower stage impact the crop positively and prevent 'Batoor' formation.

It also reduces intensity of possible attack by Mango Midge. In case of low or no sprouting till Feb end, farmers should apply Potassium Nitrate spray after consulting agriculture officials.
