PARC-JICA Sign MoU For Balochistan

Pakistan Agriculture Research Council (PARC) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for capacity development of Agricultural Extension Services in Balochistan Province.
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Sep, 2018 ) :Pakistan Agriculture Research Council (PARC) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for capacity development of Agricultural Extension Services in Balochistan Province.
Yasuhiro Tojo, Chief Representative, JICA alog-with Ikumi Ishidate, Representative, JICA and Arshad Abbasi, Team Leader/ Programme Officer, JICA visited PARC HQs, said a press release issued here.
Balochistan having five Agro-ecological zones is a water scarce Province and is known as Fruit Basket of Pakistan because of production of high quality fruits which is the major source of income of rural areas of the province.
The project is aiming to promote extension activities conducted by extension workers, through training of administrative staff, agriculture officers and field assistants.
Hence, the project will focus on the improvement of farmer's agriculture production by disseminating appropriate knowledge and techniques of agriculture to farmers through capacity building of agriculture extension workers.
The overall goal of the project is the appropriate knowledge and skills for agricultural productivity to farmers in project target districts in Balochistan province.
On the occasion, Yasuhiro Tojo appreciated PARC efforts in agriculture sector. Dr. Yusuf Zafar, Chairman, PARC also thanked the JICA team for choosing a hub of PARC. Inam ul Haq, Director General (Agriculture Extension), Balochistan was also present in the meeting.
