PIPIP project under way to facilitate farmers

Prosperity of farmers is being ensured under a project "Punjab Irrigated Agriculture Productivity Improvement Project" (PIPIP).

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Aug, 2018 ) :Prosperity of farmers is being ensured under a project "Punjab Irrigated Agriculture Productivity Improvement Project" (PIPIP).

Punjab Agriculture (Marketing) Special Secretary Ehsaan Bhutta said this here on Friday.

He said under the project, drip and sprinkle irrigation system was being installed on subsidy and water channels were being cemented.

He said that the project was under way with the support of the World Bank and it will cost about Rs 67 billion.

The Punjab government is providing 60 per cent subsidy on installation of drip irrigation system.

Drip irrigation system helps save up to 50 per cent water and an accurate watering leads to minimum growth of weeds, he added.
