Russia to Wait for Saudi Response on Grain Deliveries for 2 Months - Grain Quality Center

Russia will be waiting for Saudi Arabia's response on the next agricultural year's (starting from July 1) grain deliveries for two months, Director of the Russian Federal Center of Quality and Safety Assurance for Grain and Grain Products Yulia Koroleva told Sputnik on Wednesday

BUENOS AIRES (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 27th February, 2019) Russia will be waiting for Saudi Arabia's response on the next agricultural year's (starting from July 1) grain deliveries for two months, Director of the Russian Federal Center of Quality and Safety Assurance for Grain and Grain Products Yulia Koroleva told Sputnik on Wednesday.

"The understanding will be reached within two months ... We are waiting for clarity from Saudi Arabia by the next season," Koroleva said.

Saudi Arabia is one of the key importers of Russian barley.

Moscow has also delivered the testing batch of grain to Riyadh in order to prepare ground for future grain deliveries to the country.

The main obstacle for Russian grain deliveries to Saudi Arabia is the latter's sanitary requirement on the total absence of the so-called corn bug (Eurygaster integriceps) in the imported products.

According to Koroleva, the Russian grain is now in a special storage and the Saudi authorities will further assess its quality.
