US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin are set to travel to China on March 28-29
BEIJING (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 21st March, 2019) US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin are set to travel to China on March 28-29 to attend the eighth around of trade talks with participation of Chinese Vice Premier Liu He, a spokesman for the Chinese Commerce Ministry, Gao Feng, said on Thursday.
"US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin will visit the PRC [People's Republic of China] on March 28-29 at the invitation of the Chinese side for the holding of the eighth round of high-level talks on trade and economic issues," the spokesman told a briefing.
Gao added that the ninth round of trade consultations would be held in Washington in early April and would be attended by the Chinese vice premier.
A trade war, unleashed by US President Donald Trump, has been souring relations between Washington and Beijing for just under a year now. The two countries have been involved in high-level trade talks for the past few months in a bid to work out a trade agreement that would put an end to the tariff dispute.
