Belarusian scientists to impart training to Pakistani researchers in 15 areas

A group of Belarusian scientists would visit Pakistan by the first week of next month (December) for imparting training to local scientists, capacity building of Pakistani researchers and farmers to enhance the per-acre crop output as well as promoting the bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Nov, 2018 ) :A group of Belarusian scientists would visit Pakistan by the first week of next month (December) for imparting training to local scientists, capacity building of Pakistani researchers and farmers to enhance the per-acre crop output as well as promoting the bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

The visiting scientists would also assist the local scientists on 15 areas identified by Pakistan Agriculture Research Council (PARC) and Nation Agriculture Research Center (NARC), Ambassador of Republic of Belarus to Pakistan Andrei Ermolovich said.

The ambassador along with counselor General Vladimir Papsuev called on Minister for National food Security and Research Sahibzada Muhammad Mehboob Sultan and discussed the matters relating upcoming fifth session of Joint Working Group in Belarus which is likely to be held in February next year, a press release said.

The ambassador said the visiting group will work on joint strategy regarding capacity building of researchers and two governments would work on training programs for capacity building of researchers and farmers to enhance bilateral cooperation in the fields of agriculture and livestock.

The ambassador apprised the minister that Belarus stands 2nd in dairy products in the world and Pakistan could benefit from the dairy industry of Belarus.

Belarus values its trading partner Pakistan and inviting Federal Minister to the international exhibition which is going to be held in June next year, he added and said it was a great platform to strengthen the ties and explore new avenues of cooperation in agriculture and its allied fields.

Speaking on the occasion, Food Security Minister said that Pakistan was an agrarian economy and current government was committed to uplift the farmers and bring agriculture revolution in the country.

He said the bilateral trade between both the countries were stood at US$28.8 million in 2015-16, while in 2017-18 it had reached to $45.13 million.

The minister said various memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the field of agriculture between Pakistan and Belarus have already been signed, adding that the meeting would help in upcoming meeting of agro-cooperation where Pakistan could enhance its export potential along with technical assistance from the friendly country.

He expressed his pleasure regarding upcoming visit of Belarusian Scientists in the first week of next month as the group would would assist on 15 potential areas which were identified earlier.

He also showed his interest in cotton picking machinery and tools made by Belarus which could be benefiting for Pakistan as it was fourth biggest producer of cotton in the world.

Sahibzada Mehboob said that the Ministry of National Food Security plans to formally invite agriculture minister of Belarus to visit Pakistan as these bilateral visits will boost the cooperation between two countries in technologies, transfer, machinery, dairy processing and seeds.

Negotiations, he said regarding viable tractors and other agro machinery and implements could be planned and also welcomed the proposal from Belarus ambassador to identify the list of potential dealers and reliable business partners.
