Business France Agency To Continue Work In Russia Through Local Representatives - Paris

PARIS (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 22nd August, 2018) business France agency supporting foreign investors in France and promoting French companies will continue its export-related activities in Russia through private local actors, the French Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday.

The French Embassy in Moscow said on July 16 that Paris would close a mission supporting the work of Business France in Russia. The embassy was notified by the Russian authorities that the agency was no longer allowed to operate in Russia under provisions set forth in French legislation.

In these circumstances, Business France could no longer provide support to French firms operating on the Russian territory.

"Nevertheless, Business France will continue to provide full public support for exports to Russia, where it will conclude agreements with private local actors to assist our companies," the ministry's spokesperson told a press briefing.

Commenting on the matter, Russian Ambassador to France Aleksey Meshkov said on July 19 that the closure of Business France mission would not affect the Russian-French bilateral relationship.
