CDWP Approves 6 Projects, Refers 7 To ECNEC

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Aug, 2024) Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Mohammad Jehanzeb Khan on Tuesday chaired a meeting of the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) that took up around a dozen development projects amounting to Rs265 billion.
"Out of these, 6 projects worth Rs 16 billion have been approved, and 7 projects worth Rs 249 billion were recommended to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) for its consideration," a news release said.
Among others the meeting was attended by Secretary Planning Awais Manzur Sumra, Additional Secretary Planning, JCE (Ops), JCE (EP), Members of the Planning Commission, as well as representatives from Federal Ministries and Provincial Governments.
The agenda included discussion on projects of Energy, Education, Health, Environment & Climate, Physical Planning & Housing, Industries & Commerce, and Transport & Communication sectors.
The forum approved two education sector namely “Construction of Cadet College Kharan (2nd Revised)” worth
Rs. 2944.310 million and “Establishment of Federal Government College of Home Economics Management Sciences and Specialized Discipline, F-11/1” worth Rs. 1598.942 million.
While it recommended a project “Establishment of Danish School Balochistan” worth Rs. 9951.652 million to ECNEC.
The CDWP also forwarded a project related to Energy sector titled “Construction of 84 MW Gorkin Matiltan HPP(Revised)” worth Rs. 35758 million to ECNEC for consideration.
The project's 20% cost will be met through provincial annual development plan and 80% through KP Hydel Development Fund.
The objective of is the construction of 84 MW Gorkin-Matiltan run-of-the river hydro power project located on the right bank of the Ushu River in District Swat, with cheaper and renewable annual energy generation of about 346 GWh along with 40 km 220/132 KV Transmission Line from Matiltan HPP to existing Daral Khwar HPP.
The scope of the project is comprised of Preliminary Works, Civil Works, Hydro-Mechanical Equipment, Electrical Equipment. A Gas Insulated type (GIS) 132 kV switchyard and approximately 40 km 132/220 KV Transmission Line up to existing Daral Khwar HPP Switchyard.
Besides, the forum recommended a project related to Environment & Climate sector presented in the meeting namely “Solid Waste Emergency & Efficiency Project (SWEEP, Revised)” worth Rs. 29222.012 million to ECNEC for further consideration.
The second project related to Environment & Climate sector presented namely “Up-Scaling of Green Pakistan Programme (Revised) (Revised)” worth Rs. 122,146 million was also forwarded to ECNEC.
The CDWP approved a project related to Health sector namely “Up gradation of Radiology Department at Shaikh Zayed Post Graduate Medical Institute, Lahore (Revised)” worth Rs. 1838.030 million.
Moreover, it okayed a project related to Industries & Commerce sector namely “Establishment of Project Management Unit (PMU) on China Pakistan Economic Corridor - Industrial Cooperation Development Project (Revised)” worth Rs. 497.666 million.
The forum sent another project related to Physical Planning & Housing “Construction of Additional Suits (104) for Members of Parliament including servant quarters” worth Rs. 4100 million to ECNEC.
It also forwarded a project namely "Widening/Improvement and Re-Conditioning of Road from Khani Cross to Ziarat (70km) and Ziarat to Sinjavi (64) District Ziarat New Link (Ziarat Cross to Nawa Killi Quetta via Saran Tangi 35 km) (Revised)” worth Rs.22548.447 million to ECNEC.
Similarly, a project "Green Line Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS), Karachi (Revised)" worth Rs. 29287.051 million was recommended to ECNEC.
Whereas, the CDWP approved a project "Rehabilitation /Construction of Road in SITE Industrial Estate, Karachi(Revised)” worth Rs5015.611 million.
