China-Russia Trade Up 27.8% Year-on-Year to $97.23Bln in January-November - Customs

China-Russia trade increased by 27.8 percent year-on-year to $97.23 billion in January-November 2018, remaining on track to top $100 billion this year, Chinese General Administration of Customs data showed on Saturday.

Chinese exports to Russia during the reporting period increased by 12 percent to $43.45 billion, and imports from Russia surged by 44.3 percent to $53.78 billion.

In November, trade between the two countries amounted to $9.9 billion. China exported goods worth $4.1 billion to Russia, and worth of its imports from Russia amounted to $5.8 billion.

China has been one of Russia's major trade partners for years. In 2017, trade between the two countries grew by 20.8 percent year-on-year to $84 billion.

China-US trade grew by 10.9 percent year-on-year to $582.8 billion in January-November even despite the ongoing trade war between the two countries, the data showed.

Chinese exports to the United States during the reporting period increased by 12.9 percent to $438.17 billion, and imports from the United States to China were up 5 percent to $144.65 billion.

In November, trade between the two countries amounted to $56.9 billion. China exported goods worth $46.2 billion to the United States, and imports from the United States amounted to $10.66 billion.

China and the United States have been engaged in a trade war after US President Donald Trump announced in June that $50 billion worth of Chinese goods would be subject to 25 percent tariffs in a bid to fix the US-Chinese trade deficit.

Since then, the two countries have exchanged several rounds of trade duties on hundreds of billions of Dollars' worth of goods.

China's foreign trade growth decelerated sharply in November from October, the data showed.

The country's total exports grew 5.4 percent year-on-year to $227.4 billion, while imports were up 3 percent to $182.6 billion in November. In October, exports grew 15.6 percent, while imports surged 21.4 percent year-on-year.

China's total foreign trade in November grew by 4.3 percent to $410 billion, trade surplus was $44.7 billion.

In the first eleven months this year, China's exports grew by 11.8 percent year-on-year to $2.27 trillion, and imports were up 18.4 percent to $1.97 trillion. China's total foreign trade for the period increased by 14.8 percent to $4.24 trillion, topping the last year's result.

According to official data, China's exports in 2017 grew by 7.9 percent year-on-year to $2.26 trillion, imports increased by 15.9 percent to $1.84 trillion, total trade was up 11.4 percent to $4.1 trillion. In 2016, the country's exports decreased by 7.7 percent year-on-year, while imports fell 5.5 percent.
