Commonwealth keen to import many products from Pakistan: Ambassador

A delegation of Commonwealth of Dominica (West Indies) led by Mr. Emmanuel Nenthan, Head Citizenship Unit visited Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry and showed interest to import many products from Pakistan.

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th Dec, 2018 ) :A delegation of Commonwealth of Dominica (West Indies) led by Mr. Emmanuel Nenthan, Head Citizenship Unit visited Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry and showed interest to import many products from Pakistan.

The delegation was also keen to explore possibilities of business partnerships and joint ventures, especially in building five star hotels in Pakistan.

Speaking at the occasion, Emmanuel Nenthan, Head Citizenship Unit of Dominica said that his Island was an attractive tourist destination and 0.4 million tourists visited Dominica yearly due to lot of construction projects were going on there.

He said many Pakistani products including cement, steel, marble, sanitary good, electrical items, sports goods and others have good market in Dominica and Pakistani exporters should focus on the Island for promoting exports.

He said Dominica provided easy access to 23 other Islands of West Indies, USA, South America, Europe and by enhancing cooperation with Commonwealth of Dominica, Pakistani exporters could get easy access to these markets.

He said agriculture was the backbone of Dominican economy and Pakistan could cooperate with it in agriculture sector.

He also briefed the local business community about the citizenship criteria of Commonwealth of Dominica by investment.

He said by acquiring the passport of Dominica, they could get the benefit of visa free travel to over 130 countries including Europe's Schengen zone, UK, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore and Turkey.

He said Dominica was facing shortage of manpower and Pakistan could export its manpower to his Island.

Addressing the Dominican delegation, ICCI President Ahmed Hassan Moughal said that Pakistan was an emerging market of about 200 million customers and offered huge opportunities of joint ventures & investment to foreign investors in many sectors of its economy.

He said CPEC has made Pakistan a huge of business and investment activities and Pakistan needed more 5-star hotels. He said Dominica has built hundreds of hotels for tourists and it should explore JVs in Pakistan, especially for building more 5-star hotels in our country.

He said Dominica was getting most of its imports from China and some other countries while Pakistan could provide many products to Dominica at affordable cost.

He stressed that Pakistan and Commonwealth of Dominica should focus on regular exchange of trade delegations to explore all potential areas of mutual cooperation.
