CRIS Expects Above 400,000-ton Kinnow Exports During Current Season

The Citrus Research Institute (CRIS) Sargodha is making all-out efforts to facilitate citrus growers and hoped that during the current season growers would get 25-40 per cent more rates compared with the previous season.
CRIS Director Muhammad Nawaz Maiken told APP here Tuesday that a total of 2.
5 million tonnes of Kinnow yield was recorded during the last year, out of which 400,000-tonne worth Rs 28 billion were exported to international markets.
During last year, the purchase rate of 40-kg Kinnow was started from Rs 625 and the rate this season is starting from Rs 800, he said.
A total of 10,000 saplings of seedless Kinnow have been distributed among farmers through balloting and registration was under way to provide more saplings for the next season.
