Czech Defense Ministry to Announce Tender to Buy 210 Infantry Fighting Vehicles -Spokesman

Czech Defense Minister Lubomir Metnar informed the country's cabinet on Monday about the ministry's intention to launch a tender for the acquisition of 210 armored infantry fighting vehicles worth about 50 billion crowns (about $2.2 billion), Czech Defense Ministry spokesman Jan Pejsek said.

PRAGUE (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 18th December, 2018) Czech Defense Minister Lubomir Metnar informed the country's cabinet on Monday about the ministry's intention to launch a tender for the acquisition of 210 armored infantry fighting vehicles worth about 50 billion crowns (about $2.2 billion), Czech Defense Ministry spokesman Jan Pejsek said.

"After informing the government there will be an official appeal to the four manufacturers that have been chosen earlier, which should announce their proposals," Pejsek told reporters.

The group of four manufacturers includes the German consortium PSM, the multinational defense company BAE Systems, the General Dynamics European Land Systems company, headquartered in Madrid, and the German Rheinmetall company.

The new infantry fighting vehicles will be delivered to the Czech army gradually during the period between 2020 and 2025, according to the spokesman.
