Dodon Hopes Moldovan-Russian Economic Forum To Result In Multimillion-Dollar Deals

CHISINAU (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 21st September, 2018) Moldovan President Igor Dodon expressed hope on Thursday that the first Moldovan-Russian Economic Forum (MREF) would lead to the signing of investment agreements worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

The forum was officially opened in the Moldovan capital Chisinau on Thursday and will last until Saturday.

"I expect that the forum will result in the signing of agreements on the investment of tens and hundreds of millions of Dollars in the Republic of Moldova in the near future. We already have concrete projects - in agriculture, industry, tourism and social sector - that will be announced during the forum," Dodon said at the forum's opening.

He also said that he hoped to open the Russian market to the Moldovan producers, adding that he was interested in investments from Russia as well. According to Dodon, cooperation with Russia could bring around 400 to 500 million dollars in direct investments per year.

According to the forum's organizers, over 500 people will take part in the event that will give them an opportunity to discuss the prospects for development of cooperation in various fields of the two countries' economy. The MREF is set to become an annual event, with the next forum expected to be held in Moscow.
