EU, Africa Looking To Find Mutually Beneficial Solutions To Migration - Rwanda Minister

The European Union and Africa are looking to jointly tackle migration-related issues in an orderly and mutually beneficial manner, Rwanda's Foreign Minister Richard Sezibera said Tuesday at a press conference after the High-Level Africa-Europe forum.
"By recognizing our fundamental interdependence we will also be able to find humane, orderly, and mutually beneficial solutions to the migration challenges that dominate the headlines today. The African Union, which we chair, and the European Union will take this work forward jointly," he said.
Sezibera, whose country holds the rotating presidency of the African Union in 2018, told reporters in Vienna that the relationship between Europe and Africa would also extend into economic cooperation.
"The new relationship taking shape between our continents is focused on shared prosperity. Creating more jobs and trade in Africa will support employment and growth in Europe as well. Fully integrating the people of Africa into the global economy presents one of the greatest business opportunities of our time," he said.
The European Commission pledged in 2018 to create 10 million jobs in Africa over the next five years and help raise significant sustainable investments in Africa and European neighbourhood countries.
