The first commercial exports of Azerbaijani gas to Europe via the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) are expected to begin in the second half of 2020, Vagif Aliyev, the head of the Investments Department of the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) said on Saturday
"The commercial deliveries of Azerbaijani gas to Europe via TAP will begin in the second half of 2020.
However, I will not name the specific month. The test deliveries may begin earlier," Aliyev told reporters.
Aliyev added that the construction of the Trans Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP) is being carried out on schedule, adding that the pipeline will be ready for pumping the Azerbaijanian gas to Europe on July 1.
Both TAP and TANAP, alongside the South Caucasus Pipeline (SCPX), form the Southern Gas Corridor, an infrastructure project to bring gas from the Caspian region to Europe.
