FPCCI Body Discusses Water Issues

Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI)'s Advisory Committee on Water Resources Thursday discussed various aspects of water scarcity, water resources and other relevant issues.
KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Sep, 2018 ) :Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI)'s Advisory Committee on Water Resources Thursday discussed various aspects of water scarcity, water resources and other relevant issues.
The Advisory Committee meeting was chaired by former president FPCCI and former Chief Executive Officer of TDAP, at the FPCCI builing, who emphasized the need for urgent measures for conservation of water and supported the call of Prime Minister Imran Khan to raise funds for the construction of dams.
Eminent speakers from academia, industry and agriculture debated at length over all the water related issues. The meeting decided to form a technical committee to draft TORs on short, medium and long term basis to sort out the issues. These related to, how to conserve water resources, water recycling, construction of small dams/reservoir, addressing all micro climate issues and climatic change issues and alternate resources of water.
The committee will also study the report of senior bureaucrat AGN Abbasi on Water. It would also analytically examine the current National Water Policy 2018 and make necessary recommendations for inclusion in the policy.
The eight-member technical committee included Senior Vice President FPCCI, Syed Mazhar Ali Nasir appointed as the Chairman. Whereas, FPCCI Vice Presidents Waheed Ahmed, Karim Aziz Malik, Chairman Standing Committee on SMEs, Rehmat Ullah Jawaid, Professor of University of Karachi Dr. Moazzam Ali Khan, Senior Scientist , Dr. Nuzhat khan, former Secretary Irrigation Department M. Idris Rajput, and President Megtech Limited as members. Mir Mazhar Talpur have also been selected as the members.
