Hyundai Motor Co.'s i30 N beat its rivals to win the 2018 World Touring Car Cup (WTCR), while its i20 rally car ranked second in the World Rally Championships (WRC), the company said Monday.
SEOUL, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Nov, 2018 ) :Hyundai Motor Co.'s i30 N beat its rivals to win the 2018 World Touring Car Cup (WTCR), while its i20 rally car ranked second in the World Rally Championships (WRC), the company said Monday.
The i30 N model beat Honda Motor Co.'s Civic Type R TCR, Volkswagen Group's Golf GTI TCR models and Audi RS3 LMS TCR in WTCR, the South Korean company said in a statement.
"The i30 N and i20's stellar outcome in the global racing events proved Hyundai's high-performance car technologies have reached top quality levels," an executive said in the statement.
Last month, Hyundai launched the i30 N Line model in the domestic market to diversify its lineup.
It is the same model that took part in the WTCR in Macao on Nov. 18.
The latest version of the popular hatchback powered by a 1.6-liter gasoline turbo engine is not part of Hyundai's high-performance oriented N brand, but it adopts the brand's various options, such as Michelin PS4 tires, rear bumpers and dual mufflers designed for the N lineup models.
Hyundai said it plans to provide more N Line models to better meet the diverse demands of its customers.
Hyundai has recently launched the high-performance Veloster N model on its home turf, with more N models expected to be added to its lineup going forward.
