MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 14th October, 2018) Iranian First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri said that Iran had found new partners, who are ready to buy Iranian oil despite reinstatement of US sanctions against Tehran, media reported on Sunday.
According to Financial Tribune, Jahangiri assured that the United States "will definitely not be able to cut Iran's oil exports to zero."
The vice-president said that Tehran had found new partners to develop oil business with and held talks with its traditional customers as well. According to Jahangiri, those states, which have halted imports of Iranian oil, are seeking to find ways to import it indirectly.
On May 8, US President Donald Trump announced Washington's withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal and re-imposition of the previously lifted sanctions against Iran, including secondary sanctions that target countries doing business with Iran, in two phases.
In early August, Washington imposed the first package of sanctions targeting Iran's purchase of US Dollar banknotes, trade in gold and other metals as well as transactions involving its national Currency.
The second package is set to be introduced in early November and hit Iran's energy sector and oil exports, among other things.
According to the International Energy Agency, oil exports from Iran in September fell by 800,000 barrels per day compared to the second quarter of 2018 to 1.63 million barrels per day. At the same time, oil production in Iran in September fell to the minimum level over the past 2.5 years and amounted to 3.45 million barrels per day.
