Iran's Gasoline Production More Than Doubles Since 2013 - Reports

Iran's gasoline production has grown over 100 percent since 2013, currently totaling 101 million liters (26.7 million gallons) per day, local media reported Monday, citing Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Zangeneh

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 18th February, 2019) Iran's gasoline production has grown over 100 percent since 2013, currently totaling 101 million liters (26.7 million gallons) per day, local media reported Monday, citing Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Zangeneh.

In 2013, Iran's output stood at 50 million liters per day, according to the Mehr news agency.

"Today, contrary to what was the case a decade ago that petrol imports could be subject to the sanctions, we are no longer an importer of the item and can even become a petrol exporter and the US cannot have a word to say in this regard," Zangeneh said, as quoted by the news outlet.

He added that Tehran had not begun exporting gasoline yet in order to accumulate domestic reserves of the product.

The United States reinstated sanctions against Iran following Washington's withdrawal from the Iran nuclear agreement in May. The first round of sanctions came into force in August, followed by a second round in November. The sanctions targeted not only Iran's economy but also individuals and entities that continued doing business with Iran.
