Japan Extends A Grant Aid Worth 2,892 Million Yen (US$ 27.3 Million) To Pakistan For Two Projects

The governments of Pakistan and Japan would be signing an agreement on Tuesday to provide financial assistance to Pakistan's Economic and Social Development Program, worth Rs 500 million Japanese yen (about 4.7 million US$) and the project for Improvement of Airport Security (Phase-2), worth 2.392 billion Japanese yen ( about 22.5 million US$).
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Mar, 2018 ) :The governments of Pakistan and Japan would be signing an agreement on Tuesday to provide financial assistance to Pakistan's Economic and Social Development Program, worth Rs 500 million Japanese Yen (about 4.7 million US$) and the project for Improvement of Airport Security (Phase-2), worth 2.392 billion Japanese yen ( about 22.5 million US$).
Charge d' Affairs ad interim of the Embassy of Japan, Takshi Harada and the Secretary of Economic Affairs Division, Syed Ghazanfar Abbas Gillani will sign the agreement on the behalf of government of Japan and GOP respectively.
The grant for the Economic and Social Development Program will be used to procure equipment for meteorological observation.
It will enable the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) to improve the accuracy of weather forecasts and to disseminate the early warnings for climate disaster.
The Second project for improvement of Airport Security (Phase-2) is a follow up of the grant aid signed in 2013 and would provide screening of check-in baggage, hand baggage and vehicle at Karachi, Faisalabad, Multan and the new Islamabad airport, while the phase one project provided security equipment of rKarachi, Lahore and Islamabad airports.
