AMMAN, Sept. 21 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Sep, 2021 ) :Jordan's industrial exports in the first half of 2021 grew by 23.1 percent, President of the Jordan Chamber of Industry Fathi Jaghbir said on Tuesday.
Jordan's industrial exports in the first six months of the year rose to 2.549 billion dinars (about 3.59 billion U.S. Dollars), from 2.07 billion dinars in the same period of 2020.
It is an "unprecedented" growth that has not been seen for several years, marking the resumption of the industrial activities to their normal levels after all challenges the sector faced because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Jaghbir said in a statement.
The industrial sector is among the biggest economic sectors in terms of its direct contribution to the country's GDP.
The sector has attracted about 15 billion dinars of foreign investment, accounting for 80 percent of all foreign investments that the country attracted in the past decade.
The sector also employs some 254,000 workers, 80 percent of whom are Jordanians, who constitute 21 percent of the total workforce in the country.
