German high-end carmaker BMW said Tuesday that new stricter emissions tests for cars as well as refits to older vehicles and global trade tensions would leave revenues and profits short of its full-year forecast.

"In the third quarter as well as the fourth quarter, these effects will have a significant effect," the group said in a statement, sending its shares plunging more than five percent in Frankfurt trading before recovering slightly.
