Pakistan State Oil (PSO) in its efforts to help fight thalassemia in the country has joined hands with the Afzaal Memorial Thalassemia Foundation (AMTF) by donating Rs.1 million for the cause
KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd May, 2018 ) :Pakistan State Oil (PSO) in its efforts to help fight thalassemia in the country has joined hands with the Afzaal Memorial Thalassemia Foundation (AMTF) by donating Rs.1 million for the cause.
Sheikh Imranul Haque, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company, addressing an impressive ceremony arranged for the occasion, said PSO was committed to contributing towards social development in the country.
With an aim to create shared economic and social value across the country, he said PSO CSR Trust is supporting many organizations working to eliminate blood diseases including thalassemia from Pakistan.
Our support to the Afzaal Memorial Trust will help them in their fight against diseases that generally target people of all ages, but particularly children, said PSO chief. Ateeq Ur Rehman, AMTF's Executive Director thanking PSO for their generous contribution for fighting thalassemia in the country shared details of the efforts being made for "Thalassemia Free Pakistan." Mentioning that lack of awareness has led to spread of the disease, he said the treatment of ailment itself in extremely expensive and beyond the means of vast majority of people.
Prevention is thus the most viable option," said Rehman.
