PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st May, 2019 ) :Chairman Business Advisory Committee of the KPK government and Former Vice President FPCCI, Muhammad Riaz Khattak Tuesday said that Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) era in PML tenure was a bleak time for business community.
He said that during PML-N government tenure, TDAP was highly politicized and it made no efforts for the cause of the business community and its struggle for the promotion of trade and industry.
Speaking with the officials of Mohmand Agency and Haripur Chamber, he said TDAP has somehow lost its relevance because of the country's changing export base, bailing it out from huge losses and running it in the last five years.
The objective of the establishment of TDAP in 2006 was to facilitate exports.
Over the years, the organisation has turned from being an export promotion department into an event management company, he added.
Khattak said the government should order a complete audit of TDAP from 2013 to 2018, adding that spending millions of rupees on foreign visits will not promote exports. However the focus should be on the domestic market and itssupply chain, he stated.
He further said TDAP did not pay attention to the supply side and domestic commerce, he said.
