Polish Oil, Gas Giant PGNiG Says Signed New 20-Year Contract for US LNG

Polish oil and gas company PGNiG signed another long-term agreement to get liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the United States with the Port Arthur LNG company, PGNiG said on Wednesday in a statement.

WARSAW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 19th December, 2018) Polish oil and gas company PGNiG signed another long-term agreement to get liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the United States with the Port Arthur LNG company, PGNiG said on Wednesday in a statement.

That is Poland's third such deal on deliveries of US gas.

"The [new] agreement envisages the PGNiG company purchasing 2 million tonnes of LNG [about 2.7 billion of cubic meters, or 95.3 billion square feet, after regasification] per year within 20 years," the statement said.

The deliveries will be carried out on a free-on-board basis, which is when a customer accepts goods at the port of shipment.

Poland seeks to diversify its gas imports and opposes the Russian Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project.
