MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 06th June, 2019) Russian President Vladimir Putin is unlikely to know the list of participants of Friday's plenary discussion at St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), as these are the business people who are more interested in this, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday.
"I don't think that he [Putin] knows the list of participants who will be sitting in the hall tomorrow at the plenary session. I don't think that he is interested in the list. These are the participants [of the plenary session] who are eager to learn who will take part in this very interesting discussion," Peskov said, when asked whether Putin expected to see Baring Vostok founder Michael Calvey, who is under house arrest in Russia on embezzlement charges, among the participants of the upcoming plenary session.
US investor Calvey was detained in Moscow alongside five other suspects in February over suspected complicity in the theft of 2.5 billion rubles (over $38 million) from Russia's Vostochny Bank. Calvey insists that he is not guilty and has not committed any crimes. He has filed a request with the investigators to allow him to participate in SPIEF, but has not received any response yet.
SPIEF began on Thursday and will last through Saturday. Rossiya Segodnya International Information Agency is an official media partner of the forum.
