Qatar Petroleum Says Eager to Strike Deal on 2 LNG Terminals to Export Gas to Germany

Qatar Petroleum (QP) state-owned company, which operates all oil and gas projects in the country, is ready to consider any options to strike deals on two liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminals in Germany to then reserve their capacities and export its LNG, the company's CEO Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi said Tuesday.

LONDON (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 09th October, 2018) Qatar Petroleum (QP) state-owned company, which operates all oil and gas projects in the country, is ready to consider any options to strike deals on two liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminals in Germany to then reserve their capacities and export its LNG, the company's CEO Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi said Tuesday.

"QP was looking at two LNG terminals in Germany that are being built. We are talking to Germany's LNG and Uniper. We are talking to RWE and Uniper to sell them LNG, and if it is profitable, we will invest into some infrastructure to get them LNG.

We will do whatever is needed for our deal when it is needed. We are very open," Kaabi told reporters on the sidelines of the Oil & Money conference in London.

In September, media reported, citing Al-Kaabi, that Qatar Petroleum was in talks with German companies Uniper and RWE about possible joint LNG terminal project in Germany. Earlier, it was reported that the final investment decision on the LNG terminal construction project would be made in 2019 after assessing consumer interests. Construction of the terminal may begin in 2020, while LNG supplies may start by 2022.
