Russian energy company Rosneft and China's CNPC have agreed on broader cooperation in the area of exploration and extraction, the Rosneft press service said on Wednesday.

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 12th September, 2018) Russian energy company Rosneft and China's CNPC have agreed on broader cooperation in the area of exploration and extraction, the Rosneft press service said on Wednesday.

"Rosneft and the Chinese National Oil and Gas Corporation (CNPC) signed the Agreement on Cooperation in Exploration and Production in the Russian Federation in the framework of the IV Eastern Economic Forum," the company's statement read.

The agreement would allow the CNPC to purchase minority stakes in large-scale projects, in particular in eastern and western Siberia.
