Russia to Fulfill Loan Obligations Despite US Sanctions on Sovereign Debt - Official

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 21st September, 2018) Russia will fulfill its loan obligations even if the US sanctions target the country's sovereign debt, Russian Deputy Finance Minister Sergey Storchak said on Friday.

On August 2, a group of US senators led by Lindsey Graham introduced an extensive sanctions bill against Russia in response to its alleged interference in the 2016 presidential election and involvement in Syria and Crimea.

Russia's Kommersant newspaper reported that the senators aimed to block dollar-denominated transactions by Russian banks and US nationals' operations with the country's sovereign debt.
