SOCHI (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 22nd August, 2018) Russia's Economic Development Ministry will raise the 2018 inflation forecast, the weakening of the ruble will add "a few tenths" of a percentage point, Economic Development Minister Maxim Oreshkin told reporters Wednesday.
"There are two main stories in terms of inflation there: the story with not the best harvest this season, we will have less harvest of wheat and grain than it was last year, so it will have some impact on food prices. Plus a weaker trajectory for the exchange rate, which we did not expect at the beginning of the year, will also add a few tenths to our forecast," Oreshkin said.
