Russia's Digital Economy Reached $61Bln In 2018 - Business Association
The volume of Russia's internet-related economic activity amounted to 3.9 trillion rubles ($61 billion) in 2018, an increase of 11 percent compared to 2017, and its share in Russia's GDP was about 3.8 percent, Sergey Plugotarenko, the director of the Association of Electronic Communications (RAEC), said on Wednesday
"The contribution of the Runet [Russian internet] economy to the economy of Russia in 2018 amounted to 3.9 trillion rubles, which is 11 percent more than in 2017," Plugotarenko said at the Russian internet Forum which is being held in the Moscow Region April 17-19.
According to Plugotarenko, the volume of the mobile Internet economy amounted to 1.6 trillion rubles in 2018. The segment of the marketing and advertising stood at 262.9 billion rubles, the infrastructure was 106.2 billion rubles, the volume of e-commerce amounted to 1.953 trillion rubles, while media and entertainment segment reached 75 billion rubles, he added.
The Internet audience reached 92.8 million people, or 76 percent of the Russian population in 2018. Compared with 2017, the number of network users has increased by 3 percent, according to Plugotarenko.
