The filling of the Power of Siberia pipeline with gas is tentatively scheduled to start on September 1, 2019, Russian gas giant Gazprom's subsidiary Gazprom Transgaz Tomsk said in a corporate publication
"But no one has any doubts that the company team will cope with set targets. The beginning of the filling of the Power of Siberia with natural gas is tentatively scheduled for September 1," the publication said.
In 2014, Gazprom signed a 30-year framework agreement with China National Petroleum Corporation for annual deliveries of 38 billion cubic meters (1.
341 trillion cubic feet) of Russian gas through the Power of Siberia pipeline. Gas supplies were expected to commence on December 20, 2019, but in February Gazprom decided to start deliveries on December 1, ahead of the schedule.
Next year, Gazprom and CNPC signed an agreement on constructing the western route pipeline, known as the Power of Siberia-2. The pipeline is planned to supplement the eastern route and has a planned annual capacity of 30 billion cubic meters.
