SEOUL, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Jul, 2018 ) :South Korea's trade commission said Thursday it has decided to extend the anti-dumping duties on Chinese ceramic tiles for another three years, citing cheap imports' serious damage to the domestic industry.
The Korea Trade Commission (KTC) under the trade ministry said it recommended the finance ministry to levy 9.06-29.
41 percent of anti-dumping duties on Chinese ceramic tiles for the next three years, which have been in place since 2005.
The KTC said the domestic tile industry still remains fragile due to the influx of cheap imports from China, noting about half of domestic producers have gone out of business since 2005. The ceramic items are used in building walls and floors.
The Korean ceramic tile market was estimated at about 700 billion won (US$618.6 million) as of 2016, with imports from China accounting for about 60 percent of the total.
