Seminar To Commemorate 70-yr Of Diplomatic Ties Between Pak ' Russia Held

A seminar to commemorate 70 ' year of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Russia was held here at Area Study Centre (Russia, China and Central Asia), University of Peshawar.

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Feb, 2018 ) :A seminar to commemorate 70 ' year of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Russia was held here at Area Study Centre (Russia, China and Central Asia), University of Peshawar.

The seminar was jointly organized by University of Peshawar and Arsallah Khan, the Honorary Councilor General of Russian Federation for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA. Ambassador of the Russian Federation, Alexey Y.

Dedov graced the occasion as chief guest. Prof. Dr. Minhaj ul Hassan, Dean Faculty of Arts and Humanities, University of Peshawar and Prof Dr Sarfraz Khan, Director, Area Study Centre (Russia, China and Central Asia), University of Peshawar welcomed the Ambassador and participants of the seminar.

In his speech, Alexey Y. Dedov said economic, trade and defense co-operation between the two ' country and visits of political and defense leadership are increasing, terming it a welcoming sign towards good ties.

Director, Area Study Centre (Russia, China and Central Asia), Prof. Dr. Sarfraz Khan, stressed to rid the region of terrorism extremism and promote peace and economic co-operation. Paradigm shift shall take into account the interest of well-being of the people of Afghan-Pak region and work for reducing tension and promoting peace and economic co-operation.

Arsallah Khan, the Honorary Councilor General of the Russian Federation for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA, on the occasion informed that Russian Consulate has been established at Peshawar.

He said Russian Consulate Peshawar shall facilitate singing of new Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) with various Russian Academic Institutions and shall also facilitate reviving of already signed MoUs with Russian Academic Institutions.

Alexey Y. Dedov inaugurated the Pushkin Russian Language Laboratory to strengthen Russian language learning and research at Area Study Centre (Russia, China and Central Asia), University of Peshawar.

Russian Consulate Peshawar shall provide assistance in provision of a Russian language teacher preferably a Russian Scholar/Citizen by the Embassy of Russian Federation, Islamabad. Participants of the Seminar included Prof.
