SEOUL, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Mar, 2018 ) :South Korea's special assets fund has attracted a record amount of money this year as investors seek to diversify their portfolios amid low interest rates, data showed Wednesday.
The combined net worth of the special assets fund stood at 59.09 trillion won (US$55.15 billion) as of the end of last week, the highest tallied since 2004 when related data began to be compiled, according to the Korea Financial Investment Association.
Though the amount has been on a constant rise, with the scale surpassing 50 trillion won in March last year, the pace of growth has accelerated over the past year, it noted.
Special assets fund refers to products that put more than half of investments in "unconventional" items, such as airplanes, ships, artworks and intellectual properties.
"Despite its higher minimum size of investment, the special assets fund appears to have drawn people looking for new opportunities at this time of low interest rates," Kim Hoo-jeong, an analyst at Yuanta Securities, said.
