WASHINGTON (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 21st November, 2018) US President Donald Trump in a statement on Wednesday thanked Saudi Arabia for effecting lower oil prices, but suggested further reducing oil prices still.
"Oil prices getting lower... Thank you to Saudi Arabia, but let's go lower!" Trump said via Twitter.
Trump noted that oil prices came down to $54 Dollars per barrel from $82 earlier and pointed out the price reduction is "a big Tax Cut for America and the World."
On Tuesday, Trump said the United States would remain a steadfast partner to Saudi Arabia despite the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul.
Trump said that cutting US arms contracts or otherwise degrading relations with the desert kingdom would bring the oil price to $150 per barrel.
US lawmakers have called on the US president to take further action against the Saudi government over the killing of Khashoggi, including cutting arms sales to the desert kingdom. The Trump administration has already sanctioned 17 Saudi nationals who were allegedly involved in the murder of Khashoggi.
